Headmaster Robert Littell To Retire in Spring, 2008

RPDS Head of School, Robert Littell, will retire following the 2007-2008 school year after twelve years of service to Riverside students and their families.
In a letter announcing Robert’s retirement, Julie Sutton, President of the RPDS Board of Trustees, stated, “You have expanded our vision as an independent school and succeeded in uniting diverse interests by focusing on our mission to the children. We are grateful to begin the next era for Riverside Presbyterian Day School from a position of strength. The Board thanks you for your many years of dedicated service to the children of Riverside, who inspire us all in our guidance of this beloved institution.”
During his tenure as Head, RPDS has thrived and is recognized as a highly regarded leader in elementary education. Over the past twelve years, Riverside has:
- Lowered class sized to 17 in grades one through three by adding a fourth teacher to each grade
- Moved our four first grade classes and early learning department to new space
- Expanded athletic space
- Opened state-of-the-art technology lab and networked the entire campus
- Worked to increase diversity of the faculty and student body
- Strengthened enrollment by over 10%
- Increased faculty compensation, and
- Participated in a $9.5 million capital campaign to improve the campus and increase the Riverside endowment
H. Palmer Bell has been selected to follow Mr. Littell as Head of Riverside Presbyterian Day School.
