For children, creative play is their "work" and the lessons learned are intricate, far-reaching and the architects of habits of mind. For every parent wishing children would "get serious," "grow up" and "stop playing around" there is a serious brain researcher eager to remind that the creative play of childhood generates intricate neural pathways, encourages healthy physical coordination, fosters interpersonal relationships and inspires independent problem solving.
