Service Learning

Seeking the opportunity to serve is an important focus of everyday life for the students of RPDS. The entire sixth grade class fulfills this mission throughout the school year by being part of the RPDS Leadership Council.

This leadership experience allows our students to serve the school in a variety of capacities:

  • Chapel Guides
  • Kindergarten Aides
  • Library Assistants
  • Safety Patrol

All sixth grade students rotate through these four service groups during the school year. Teaching our students that opportunities abound to assist others, our sixth graders will hold the hand of a three-year-old or Early Learning Center student as they enter the building, read scripture, lead prayer, or carry our banner and flags for Chapel, assist a classmate with checking out books in the library, and assist PreK 3, PreK 4 and Kindergarten teachers with morning classroom activities.

These positions of leadership create a model for our younger students to aspire to be servant leaders, and provide the foundation for a life-long commitment to serve others.
