This morning our 4th Grade class presented the annual tradition of ‘Lessons & Carols’ in chapel. Thank you 4th Grade for the beautiful performance!
RPDS is proud to showcase our students’ musical and dramatic talents in grade level productions throughout the year.Pre-K through Kindergarten participate in several performances. They perform at Grandparent’s Day, Mother’s Day Tea, and community music outreach. Third grade performs in a Christmas Musical and 4th grade performs a traditional Lesson and Carols. First and Second Grade participate in a Musical and the 5th and 6th Grade participate in a play. Chapel performances are for all grade levels, and community music outreach opportunities are available for most grade levels.
Fourth and Fifth graders are given the opportunity to audition for All State Elementary Chorus and All State Elementary Orff. They are given audition material and then they create recordings to be sent off to adjudicators. Music educators all over Florida have the opportunity to send auditions in and then only the top four hundred are selected to participate in a concert at the Florida Music Educators’s National Conference in Tampa, Florida.
Children who receive private music lessons outside of school are given frequent opportunities to share their talents with their classmates, teachers, and families during “Grand Instrument Week.”
Riverside Presbyterian Day School is also the host site for many national and local performance groups. Through the exposure to music that these programs offer, our students are enriched and inspired to reach new heights in music!
RPDS's 3rd Grade class presented a Christmas musical entitled Christmas Showstoppers December 7th and 8th. The musical featured eight upbeat songs with square dancing, a fiddler, caller, elves, and Santa Claus.
Our PreK 4 classes shared the Christmas story in a very special service this morning entitled "Oh, What a Special Night!". The service was streamed live so families could enjoy these sweet stars in their special performances. We simply love this time of year at RPDS!
In the fall, Sophia Butler, Emmy Jackson, and Stella Krueger ventured to the All State Elementary Chorus at the Tampa Convention Center. The three girls auditioned to be selected to perform at the Florida Music Educators Conference. There were 1,000 students who auditioned and 300 were selected. The young musicians will rehearse and perform in a concert for all the music teachers in Tampa. Congratulations, girls!
