Competitive Sports

RPDS participates in the North Florida Independent Schools Athletic Conference (NFISAC) and has been a member since the 2015-2016 School year.  Participating in the NFISAC allows our 5th and 6th grade students to play sports with other Independent Schools in Northeast Florida.  The RPDS Rams currently participate in Boys and Girls Basketball, Flag Football and Volleyball.

The primary goal of RPDS athletics is to provide students with an opportunity to play a school sport where the focus is on enjoying the game, learning the sport and being part of a team.  We believe the opportunity to play with classmates tremendously increases student comfort and confidence with sports.

Basketball

The RPDS Basketball program is designed to teach our 5th and 6th Grade students basic basketball skills, and allow the students to experience the benefits of team sports. We currently participate in the North Florida Independent Schools Athletic Conference. The basketball season runs from September through November and concludes with a single elimination tournamnet against other area independent schools.

Volleyball

Volleyball is a winter sport that is offered to students at RPDS in 5th and 6th Grade. Players are taught basic skills and techniques for underhand passing, setting, and are even given a brief overview to overhead hitting. Serving is a huge focus, and we begin by teaching the athletes the underhand serve before moving to an overhead serve. The season runs from December to February.

Flag Football

The RPDS Flag Football program is designed to teach our 5th and 6th Grade students the fundamentals of playing flag football, while also introducing them to the fun of participating in team sports. RPDS currently participates in the North Florida Independent Schools Athletic Conference. During the season, RPDS competes against other area conference teams throughout the months of January and February. The season concludes with a double elimination tournament in March.
