Our 2nd Grade students were getting into the Christmas spirit during Art class today! They were using acrylic paint to put the finishing touches on their sculptures of Mary. To create the sculptures, they molded and shaped clay before firing them in the kiln. To create the look of Mary’s hair, they put the clay through a garlic press. So creative!

Each year, beginning in 1st Grade, students design a nativity sculpture. In 1st Grade students create baby Jesus, 2nd Grade they create Mary, 3rd Grade they create Joseph, and in 4th Grade the nativity is completed by creating an angel. The collection makes a wonderfully treasured work of art!
