The Riverside Parents Association (RPA) provides many opportunities for parents to positively participate in the life of the school. Thank you for choosing to volunteer at RPDS.


ABOUT EACH RPA COMMITTEE:


ONE-TIME SCHOOL EVENTS:
Eye Screening // Chair: Dana Nolan
Volunteers will assist in the one-day eye screening for all RPDS students on 
Friday, September 14, 2018.

School Pictures // Chair: Leslie Kleyla
Volunteers assist the photographers and teachers with both individual pictures and class pictures. Individual pictures will be on September 27 and 28, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Class pictures will be on April 16 and 17, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. 

Grade-Level Parent Parties // Co-Chairs: Robin Campen &  Kristen Surface
This committee will help plan and coordinate grade-level parent parties held in late September/early October for grades PreK-3 through 6. 

End-Of- Year School Party // TBD
Volunteers on this committee help organize and plan a fun-filled End-of-Year school party on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 on the RPDS campus. 

Graduation Reception // Chair: Lindsey Barton
This committee consists of 5th grade parent volunteers who plan, prepare and host the Graduation Reception in Kissling Hall after RPDS Graduation on Friday, May 24, 2019. 

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Week // TBD
Volunteers on this committee assist with Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week. 
Monday, February 11-Friday, February 15, 2019. 

YEAR-ROUND ACTIVITIES: 

Library Aides // Chair: Jessica Stevenson
Members of this committee assist in the Media Center one morning of each month. 

Music/Drama Aides // TBD
Committee members will assist with school performances and ongoing program needs. 

Busy Bee Committee // Courtney Powers,  Assistant Director of Advancement
Committee members assist the advancement department with various  administrative and school-wide activities throughout the year.

Classroom Parents (PK3-Kindergarten) (1st-6th) 
Parents work to assist in planning and implementing parties and events
throughout the year. They also share important information about events and
initiatives such as Octoberfest, The Promise Fund, Capers & Promise Week, 


FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

Parents In Prayer // Chair: Taylor Day
This group meets on the first Thursday of every month before the RPDS Chapel Service to pray for the needs of our school community. Volunteers will gather to pray for the students, faculty & staff of RPDS, as well as special prayer requests.

All Pro Dad // Chair: Brian Harbin
This group meets on the last Thursday of every month before the RPDS Chapel Service and is open to all dads and their children. All Pro Dad is committed to bringing intentional focus to fathers. Their message is to provide guidance and practical tips for raising kids in a life giving way.

G3 Bible Study & Fellowship Groups 
(God’s Gifted Guys & Girls) // Chair: Lesley Mauldin
G3 is an opportunity for children in 1st-6th grade to grow in fellowship with one another and in deeper devotion to Jesus Christ through scripture lessons, crafts, songs, games and more.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS:

Artsonia Online Student Art Gallery // TBD
This committee manages the RPDS art fundraiser,  Artsonia. Volunteers help year-round with photographing and uploading student art onto the Artsonia online “library." 

Octoberfest // Chair: Sarah Hande
Octoberfest is a fun-filled, fall carnival for the entire RPDS community. Volunteers are needed to set-up and decorate, staff games and breakdown.  This year’s Octoberfest will be on Friday, October 19, 2018

Capers // Co-Chairs: Heather & Alan Creel
This year’s Capers auction/gala will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Volunteers will help with event decor, solicit live and silent item donations, create and maintain the auction website, help with grade level baskets and assist with event set-up and break-down, just to name a few. 

Daily’s Fit-4-Life Kids Duathlon & Family Festival // Co-Chairs: TBD
This exciting fundraising event will take place Saturday, April 13, 2019Committee members are needed to help with planning, sponsorship, marketing, set-up/break-down and day-of-event volunteer recruitment. 

Scholastic Book Fair // Amanda Lucas, RPDS Media Specialist
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held March 11-15, 2019. Volunteers help set-up the fair, assist students in finding books, run the check-out procedure and help with breakdown.
